Samsung to Launch Another 8MP camera phone

Samsung M8800

The era of 3 - 5MP phones may soon be over as 8MP camera phones are ready to enter the market. And it looks like the competition is also heating up with LG, Sony Ericsson and Samsung are releasing there 8MP handsets. Samsung already has a 8MP phone with i8510 but they are going to release a next 8MP model called M8800.

The phone has been announced rather quietly and can be called M8800 Bresson or Pixon. It is not a smartphone and comes with a 3.2 inch touch screen but it does not have a keyboard. It definitely looks like an upgraded version of Omnia. Some reports are also suggesting that it may run on Samsung’s proprietary OS and not Windows Mobile. The handset will also feature handwriting recognition along with 3G with HSDPA. The 8MP camera will include auto-focus, face recognition, smile and blink detection and also geotagging of images. It will record video at 30FPS in VGA mode. Other features include a built in GPS and an Accelerometer, Divx playback, Bluetooth, virtual keyboard etc.

No official detail is known about the availability and pricing but it might come out by November for a a price of $800.
